DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The annual ‘Take a Kid Fishing’ weekend began across Minnesota.
Friday, the celebration allowed Minnesotans to fish without a license if they brought along someone age 15 or younger.
Even in Duluth, families took the opportunity to fish with their kids on a boat or along the shore.
For others, fishing during the summer weekends is a family tradition.
“My grandpa always took me fishing, so I wanted to carry on that tradition with my kids,” said Amanda Zuniga.
Zuniga brought her four kids and their friends out to Duluth’s Boy Scout Harbor to fish off the dock.
The weekend deal will also be available all day Sunday.
