GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — On Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) will host Free Fishing Weekend, where anyone can fish for free with the fishing license and Habitat Stamp requirements waived for the event.

About Free Fishing Weekend

Free Fishing Weekend, which aligns with National Fishing and Boating Week, has been hosted by CPW for over 20 years. The event helps promote the 35 species of fish that live in cold and warm bodies of water. Outside of this weekend, fishing contributes $1.9 billion annually to Colorado's economy.

Some of the fish that Coloradans will be catching will come from one of CPW's hatcheries. CPW currently operates 19 fish hatcheries to maintain and improve Colorado's Fish populations. Within these hatcheries, over 90 million
