WASHINGTON — Former D.C. Metropolitan Police Intelligence Chief Lt. Shane Lamond was sentenced Friday to 18 months in federal prison for obstructing an investigation and lying to authorities about his communications with Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio.

U.S. District Judge Amy B. Jackson said Lamond had shown no real contrition throughout the case and no appreciation for his misuse of his position of trust.

"The entire attitude throughout has been, 'How dare they bring these charges!'" Jackson said.

Federal prosecutors had sought a much harsher penalty of four years behind bars, arguing that Lamond abused his power and access to leak sensitive information to Tarrio. At trial, the government presented evidence that Lamond tipped Tarrio off about a pending warrant related to the 2020
