In his June 2 opinion article, “ Boosting SALT subsidizes state, local services ,” Gordon Gray of the Pinpoint Policy Institute writes that, “The Big Beautiful Bill” passed by the U.S. House the prior week, “accomplishes a number of important policy goals. Most importantly, it forestalls the expiration of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).” But his scare message appeals primarily to more well-off people when he notes that a single taxpayer earning $75,000 could face a tax increase of more than $1,700.
