A popular beach in Tofino has a newly completed concrete, accessible beach ramp, creating more inclusive access to the beach for visitors and residents.

The District of Tofino finished installing the new accessible concrete ramp at Cox Bay this week, and reopened the beach access trail, parking lot and public washrooms that were closed during construction.

“The new concrete ramp is designed to provide safer, more inclusive access to the beach for all individuals, including those with mobility aids, strollers, and other accessibility supports,” states the district.

Funded by the province through the Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) program, construction started on May 20 and finished this week.
