ANN ARBOR -- A trip to the Division 2 state semifinals was in grasp for Chelsea’s baseball team on Saturday.
Despite a valiant effort, Chelsea fell just short of the final four, falling 3-2 to Mason in 10 innings.
The two teams battled throughout the game until Mason scored the game-winning run from a single by Wyatt Ball in the bottom of the 10th.
Chelsea needed a comeback effort to push the games into extra innings as Jax Ichesco drove in the tying run in the seventh.
But the Bulldogs couldn’t find another run to keep their season going.
Ichesco led Chelsea with two hits and an RBI and Jimmy Sciackitano added a hit and an RBI in the quarterfinal and Wyatt Matusik struck out four batters.
Mason will face Standish-Sterling in the state semifinals on Thursday.
