YPSILANTI -- A complete performance was needed and Saline’s softball team delivered.

The Hornets used a strong defensive effort in the regional semifinal and their offense did the rest in the title game on Saturday.

Saline knocked off conference foe Temperance Bedford 9-3 to secure the Division 1 regional crown after taking down Dexter in the semis.

The Hornets recorded 12 hits and scored timely runs against Bedford to advance to Tuesday’s state quarterfinal versus Brownstown Woodhaven at 4:30 p.m. at Ypsilanti Lincoln.

Saline opened the title game with two runs in the first inning to gain momentum.

The Hornets added five runs between the third and fourth innings to pull away with the regional victory.
