The Fruitport baseball team added another milestone to its historic 2025 season on Saturday, as the Trojans defeated Frankenmuth 4-0 to capture a Division 2 regional championship at Turcott Field in Petoskey.
A few hours later, the Trojans’ celebration turned sour, as they fell to Standish-Sterling in the Division 2 state quarterfinals by a score of 7-1.
The loss brings a difficult end to an otherwise special spring campaign for Fruitport that featured the most wins in school history (29), a conference championship, a district title, a regional championship and the program’s first GMAA city tournament title since 1991.
