The Black Rodeo USA cowboy competition returned to the Jacksonville Equestrian Center on Saturday with two shows.

The high-energy celebration brought music and food for people of all backgrounds.

Those who attended were also able to enjoy many fun activities like bull riding, barrel racing, and more performed by urban cowboys and cowgirls.

“Just to experience the Black rodeo experience, for fellowship and socialize with our people because it’s something that history is trying to wipe out, Black cowboys, and there’s many of them,” Vanera, who attended the event, said.

Tony “The Hat Man,” a cowboy hat seller, said this was his third year attending the rodeo in Jacksonville.

“Everybody is just having a good time. It’s a good weekend in Jacksonville,” he said.
