A former member of Donald Trump's inner circle is decoding the "signals" surrounding the president's recent public breakup with CEO Elon Musk.
Trump and Musk have traded barbs since the world's richest man and tech CEO insulted Trump's signature piece of legislation currently working its way through Congress.
Someone who might have some idea of what Musk is going through is author and former Trump associate Lev Parnas, who has reported on Trump's purported "humiliation" by Russia's Putin. That's because Parnas was rejected by Trump during the president's first term in office.
"The Trump–Elon bromance is officially dead — but what’s happening behind the scenes is even more dangerous than what’s playing out in public. MAGA influencers are calling for Elon’s deportation. Bannon wants him gone. Trump is smiling for the cameras, but behind closed doors, he’s fuming — and plotting," Parnas wrote. "I know these signals because I lived them."
Parnas went on to say, "I was inside Trump’s inner circle. I saw how quickly loyalty turns into betrayal, how narratives get twisted, and how silence is enforced."
He continued:
"What Elon Musk is going through right now is the exact same script they used on me — just with a bigger stage. But Elon isn’t just a threat because of his wealth or his voice."
Parnas went on to describe Musk in Trump's eyes as a "threat" who needs to be "neutralized."
"He’s a threat because of what he knows. And make no mistake: Trump sees him as a liability that needs to be neutralized. I break it all down in this episode of Lev Remembers — the cult dynamics, the betrayal, and what comes next," he wrote. "This isn’t a spat. It’s a purge. And you need to know how deep it goes."
