LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A summer open house on Saturday in Lansing to check out an H.O. scale model railroad.
The model represents parts of Michigan, the old historic depot, and the vintage Michigan Avenue Tower.
The model railroad was built in the early 1980s. Since the, it has expanded and changed layouts to reflect the area.
Visitors checked out the model and could see trains moving on the tracks making sounds.
Michael Frezell, the recording secretary of the Lansing Model Railroad Club, spoke on the significance of trains in our area.
“Trains have been impacting the Lansing area as long as the city has been around. It helped carry product to and from Lansing, it was an important part to the auto industry to ship parts to the plants and ship finished product all over the country,” s
