LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Saturday, people got the chance to fish for free at Hawk Island Park with the Annual Free Community Fishing Tournament.
The fishing tournament is a partnership with the Lansing Police and Fire Department and the Small Talk Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides services for children who have been sexually and physically abused.
Those who attended competed in a friendly competition while also learning about valuable resources supporting children and families in the Lansing area.
Alex Brace, with Small Talk Children’s Advocacy, talked about why this event is so important to the community.
“I think it’s great to just get people out outdoors,” said Brace. “I think that can be a really healing experience for people. And I think, like Scott said, just bringing
