DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - It got bananas down in Lincoln Park as a group of runners made history while raising money for a good cause.
The first-ever Going Bananas Run took off this morning, hoping to become the largest gathering of running bananas.
About 430 people peeled out of the Bent Paddle Brewing Co. in banana costumes, parking lot to race down Superior Street, and those bananas were literally running for their lives as organizers added a surprising twist.
“We have over 400 people dressed as bananas running through Lincoln Park, and after two minutes, we release a gorilla who chases after people, trying to beat them in the race,” said Andrew Weisz
For each runner that stayed safe and beat the gorilla back to Bent Paddle, $5 goes to Project Joy Northland , a non-profi
