The Fulton City Council last week approved Ordinance 1685-25, which allows residents to keep chickens for their personal use.
According to a Facebook post from the city of Fulton, the ordinance allows for sustainable living while maintaining neighborhood standards.
The ordinance set certain guidelines for types of chickens per property, as well as how many chickens can be kept per property.
Properties will be able to house up to six chickens, or 10 chickens per acre of land. Only hens are allowed on properties but roosters are not allowed. There are zero restrictions on chicken species.
The ordinance also says that chickens may not be used for commercial breeding or fertilizer production. Slaughtering is only allowed indoors and for personal consumption.
