BUFFALO, N.Y. — A water rescue took place Saturday afternoon at the Buffalo Naval Park. It didn't involve a person, though.

The Buffalo Fire Department successfully removed a deer from the water at the Buffalo Naval Park. The SPCA Serving Erie County 's wildlife department also assisted at the scene.

The call was received shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, and the rescue itself took about 30 minutes, according to Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo.

A video posted to the FBNY Facebook account captured the moments before fire crews started the rescue, followed by how the deer responded when it was brought back to safety, on land.
