YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A sculpture that was being restored was unveiled at the Butler Institute of American Art on Saturday.

Don Gummer's "Primary Compass" was installed earlier this week, and the museum celebrated its installation on Saturday.

The sculpture had been at the Butler location in Howland, but when that location closed, the sculpture was taken down and stored. It has been refurbished by Brilex in Youngstown.

Gummer was at the unveiling and explained the meaning behind the piece.

"It's like higher education. You have a certain level, you get your degree, you get your doctorate. It's about climbing. It's about optimism and clear direction," Gummer said.

The sculpture was originally created in 2000.
