CLINTON -- Late-inning offense in both the regional semifinal and regional final helped the Grass Lake softball team win a regional title on Saturday, beating Monroe St. Mary 9-3 and Columbia Central 11-4.

The final against the Golden Eagles was a one-run game until the Warriors pushed across six runs in the fifth inning.

Clinging to a one-run lead headed into the fifth, and having just gotten out of a jam with Golden Eagles runners at second and third the previous inning, the Warriors sent 11 batters to the plate to pull away.

“We really worked hard, we kept our bats going throughout the game, so the runs added up,” Grass Lake third baseman Kennedy Collins said.
