The West Perry Mustangs, no strangers to close extra inning games, took No. 4 seed Fleetwood into 13 innings, before falling 8-7 to the Tigers May 27, ending their postseason run and their bid for state playoffs.
In what amounted to a virtual doubleheader, West Perry baseball took a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh with two outs. But an infield error and a home run saved the Tigers season and sent the game into extra innings.
The 12-10 Mustangs took the lead in the top of the 13th when Eli Lyons reached on an error, Mason Sanno singled and Lyons eventually scored after a Tiger’s throwing error trying to complete a double play.
But 15-7 Fleetwood came back in their half of the 13th with a single, stolen base, triple, intentional walk and a walk-off single to win the game 8-7.
