Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot during an event on Saturday (June 7) in Bogota, Colombia.

The 39-year-old politician and current member of the Colombian senate is currently running to join the presidential race next year.

While attending a campaign event in the Fontibon district, it came under attack and the politician was shot and is receiving emergency care, according to CNN .

The news outlet reports the Bogota mayor Carlos Galán said the “entire hospital network” was on alert in case Miguel needed to be transferred.
