Unidentified man found dead in field off of St. Francis Drive

An as-of-yet unidentified man was found dead Saturday in a field off St. Francis Drive not far from Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe police said.

The man was found around 5 p.m. near the intersection of South St. Francis Drive and Pen Road, a small street a little south of Cerrillos Road, Capt. Bryan Martinez said.

Martinez had few other details to share early Saturday evening. He did not know the victim's approximate age or cause or time of death, although he indicated homicide was not suspected.

“They don’t know if it was either heat stroke or [overdose],” Martinez said. “[The death] was fairly recent, I'm sure. They didn't mention anything about him being in bad shape or anything like that.”
