QUINCY (WGEM) - Rain or shine, Germanfest took over Quincy’s South Park this weekend.

Hundreds of people showed up to listen to traditional German music and celebrate Quincy’s German heritage.

They even had traditional German food, like bratwursts, and beer for attendees to enjoy.

The money raised at the event is to bolster ties to Quincy’s sister city in Germany.

“It’s a fundraiser in order to send students over to our sister city in Herford, Germany, as well as to bring kids over from Hereford, Germany, to experience Quincy and America,” said Casey Deters, Quincy Sister City Commission Vice Chair. “It’s all those wonderful things!”

Germanfest runs until 11 p.m. on Saturday.
