(WNDU) - The Penn High School softball team saw its remarkable season come to an end on Saturday night in the Class 4A northern semi-state championship game.

The Kingsmen lost to Crown Point 4-2, ending their season at 25-5 overall.

Penn took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an Izzy Hanna inside-the-park home run, but Crown Point stormed back in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. The Kingsmen added another run in the top of the fifth and had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the top of the seventh, but the Bulldogs held on for the win.

Penn reached the semi-state championship after holding off a late rally to defeat West Lafayette Harrison 5-4 in the semifinals earlier in the day.
