GEORGIA, USA — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has announced that a person has died following Saturday evening's storms.
According to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security, a person died when a tree fell onto their car in Banks County.
Details are currently limited; 11Alive is still gathering more information about the incident.
The National Weather Service stated the incident happened near the intersection of Highway 51 and Antioch Road in Lula around 6:22 p.m.
Kemp made the announcement in an X post just after 8 p.m., where he announced the person died due to severe storms.
"As we keep them in our thoughts, we’re also praying for the first responders rushing to help those affected by this strong weather system and the safety of those in its path," he stated in his post.
