LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Two Texas men are each facing over five years in prison, after being charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute fentanyl. Hernan Cortez age 40 and Daniel Elizondo age 37, both from Laredo, plead guilty on January 8th.
Cortez is said to have brought roughly half a kilogram of fentanyl from Houston into Laredo with the intent to sell the drugs alongside Elizondo. After completing their time in prison, they would each have to complete 4 years of supervised release. In the meantime, both men will remain in custody pending their transfer to the federal bureau of prisons.
