NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - A man is behind bars after leading multiple police departments on a motorcycle and foot chase.

On Wednesday, Bridgeton police tried to stop 39-year-old Shayne Hayes, who was driving a motorcycle, for a traffic offense. Officials say Hayes took officers on a chase into New Bern, but the chase was stopped by police based on Hayes’ driving behavior and the danger to the public.

Police got warrants for Hayes for Felony Fleeing to Elude and numerous traffic violations.

On Saturday, New Bern police officers went to Hayes’ home in the 4200 block of Yarmouth Road to attempt to serve the outstanding warrants. When officers arrived, Hayes ran into the neighborhood where he hid from officers. Eventually, officers found him and took him into custody.
