WEATHERLY, Pa. — Despite the rainy conditions this weekend, drivers are still headed for the hill in Carbon County.

It's a long-standing tradition of the Hillclimb in Weatherly.

Eighty-one drivers entered their cars to race up the incline and turn at high speeds, some reaching speeds of over 77 miles per hour.

This race has been held every year since 1960.

Jen Kunkel of the Weatherly Hillclimb Association says, "We love it. The drivers love it. Honestly, a lot of them comment that Weatherly is their favorite hill. We enjoy doing it. We have a lot of faces that we become friends with over the years, and it's a fun event."

The Hillclimb Association hosts two of these races each year, and the race continues on Sunday.
