PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WJW) - The Painesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place in the city on Saturday evening.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of N. State Street and Erie Street, the department told FOX 8 News.

Since police officials are still investigating the scene, the intersection will remain closed until further notice. Drivers are urged to avoid the area at this time.

The police department did not provide further details on the shooting, but investigators said it was not related to the Spring Block Party.

There is no ongoing threat to the community, Painesville police said.
