It's official. The Allianz Amphitheater at the Riverfront is open and rocking.

The venue kicked off its inaugural show with some blasts from MTV days past. Rick Springfield cruised into the river city as headliner on the "I Want My 80s Tour."

Doors opened at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and music began at 7 p.m. with the show's opener, John Cafferty, best known for scoring the soundtrack to "Eddie and the Cruisers."

Gen X in the house

Jenny Lawhorne, Mike Lawhorne, Laurie Van Cleve, and Daniel McFadden came to the show together. The group rocked matching 80s themed outfits, the women in shirts reading 80s PARTY GIRL. The men wore button up shirts with a collage of 80s staples, including movie posters for "E.T." and "Back to the Future."
