HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Northeast trade winds will be light to moderate Sunday and turn more from the east Monday and Tuesday. Expect pockets of moisture to bring showers for windward areas, but some daytime sea breezes could also trigger afternoon pop-up showers for leeward areas. Trade winds are expected to gradually strengthen Wednesday through Friday.
A high surf advisory has been extended through 6 p.m. Sunday for the south-facing shores of all islands, where waves of 6 to 10 feet will be possible. Surf will be small and choppy for east shores Monday and Tuesday before picking up again with the stronger trades. North shore waves will have a small swell to start the week and then go generally tiny to flat for the rest of the week.
