CARY, N.C. (WNCN) -- Thousands of soccer fans filled WakeMed Soccer Park Saturday, all in Cary to take part in The Soccer Tournament.

“The Triangle has been a hotbed of soccer forever, so to have these big names come out here to Cary feels validating for the Triangle area,” said Cody Davis of Durham, one of many who traveled to take part in the excitement.

Matthew Nance of Fuquay-Varina with his two children, Finley and Violet, also described the thrill.

“They’re competing for a million dollars. You know you’re going to have some exciting soccer,” said Nance.
