Progressive International members announced on Friday plans for an eight-day “Global March to Gaza” during which thousands of activists, doctors, artists, and citizens from 31 countries will march from Cairo, Egypt to Rafah in an effort to break Israel’s blockade on Gaza.
Scheduled to begin on June 12, protestors will call for an “immediate end to the genocide in Gaza, a total embargo on Israel, and total boycott from the military, economic, cultural network of Israeli violence, occupation and apartheid.” Organizers say they hope the march will pressure international institutions to take immediate action—as opposed to issuing “lukewarm” condemnations of Israel’s actions—to stop the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
