IRON RIVER, Wis. (Northern News Now) - The town of Iron River has added a bit more color to the drive down Highway 2.
The Iron River Lions Club held an event on Saturday to unveil the new mural for the Nate Johnson Building, formerly known as the Mitchell Building.
Artist Kelly Meredith designed the piece as a complement to the mural across the street on the JBO’s Bowling, Bar and Grill building, which was commissioned in the 1950s by the Lions Club.
According to the Lions Club, the 12-foot-tall, 80-foot-long mural captures the beauty of Iron River and even features local residents in the piece.
Commemorative plaques bought by community members were placed along the base of the mural.
