However, gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh cautions that if your preparatory work isn't wrapped up within the next week, you may have missed the boat.

Alan told Saga Magazine: "The beginning of June is time to really get stuff in. By the middle of the month, if your garden is not looking good then there's not much hope!".

Furthermore, Alan mentioned that should you pinpoint any lacklustre areas within your garden's design, now is the moment to inject some vibrancy – though haste is required to apply these last refinements.
