A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was wounded and an armed robbery suspect killed in a shootout Saturday night, June 7, in Lancaster, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The unidentified deputy was hit in the upper torso and taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where they were in critical but stable condition, sheriff’s deputies said. The robbery suspect, who reportedly engaged the deputy in gunfire in the 1200 block of Meadow View Circle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies were called to the area about 7:20 p.m. to investigate reports of a robbery in the 1200 block of West Avenue K, at 12th Street West, deputies said.

Further details about the robbery and the shootout were not available.
