The Gilbert Planning Commission has told staff and the developer there are still too many details to sort through for a 311.84-acre development south of the Loop 202 freeway that would produce a mix of 1,700 single-family homes and apartments.

Developer Lennar Homes has sought a land-use classification change for 179 acres of the Harvest Grove project so that only about 35 acres would go toward commercial development with varying housing density.

Located on southeast corner of Germann Road and Val Vista Drive, Harvest Grove would devote 43.18 acres to 3.5-5 dwelling units per acre, 38.26 acres for 5-8 units per acre, 35.73 acres with 8-14 units per acre, 17.16 acres with 14-25 units and 25-50 units per acre on the remaining 9.58 acres, according to Lennar’s request.
