HARRISONBURG, Va. – Union High School sophomore Katelynn Witt has followed big footsteps since becoming an athlete.
On Saturday, the daughter of former Powell Valley standout quarterback Ryan Witt cleared more challenges in the VHSL Class 2 track and field meet at James Madison University.
The 5-foot-9 Witt won the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.92 and completed the sweep with a victorious time of 47.32 in the 300 hurdles.
“I was hoping for this,” Katelynn Witt said. “I was the top seed in both events coming in, so I just had to go out and do my best.”
During indoor track this past season, Witt won the state crown in the 55 hurdles.
“I didn’t really expect to do all this as a sophomore, but my coaches have really helped me reach this point,” Witt said.
