Presenter Rylan Clark had a minor clash with a BBC legend on his Saturday radio show which resulted in him being told he might be being overly critical.

Rylan, 36, had just started his show when BBC staple Sally Boazman walked into the studio. Sally, a renowned radio traffic news reporter, is known around the UK for her travel reports. Sally, 67, was getting set up when she was handed her first travel bulletin, at which point she commented on the size of the typeface.

She said: “It’s big isn’t it? It’s never normally that big, the type face I mean.”

In response, Rylan claimed it might assist Sally, before he realised he may have made a poorly timed comment about her age.

He quipped: “It might help you out Sal. I’m not saying nothing about your age. I’m just saying sometimes you go,
