Let’s get real for a moment. For 350 years the land that would become the United States and the country itself was one of, if not the, largest market for kidnapped human beings being sold into slavery. No defunding of Museums of African American History, banning of books from libraries in public schools and military academies telling this truth or celebrating the contributions of African Americans to the rich success of this country, nor banning the teaching of this ugly truth to the next generation is going to erase the fact that white people and even some Black people in this country bought, sold, and passed through inheritance fellow human beings as if they were a horse.
