A thug who stole chips from an Uber Eats rider he went on to attack gave a judge a message as he was jailed.

Christopher Fisher - who was out of prison on licence at the time - was struck in the head with a weapon as his victim, the delivery rider, fought back when the takeaway was swiped from his delivery bag.

But Fisher then knocked the worker to the ground and punched and stamped on him before hurling the food back at him in a 'final act of contempt', a court heard.

When he told a court that he 'hoped to get help to not put himself in that situation again', a judge replied: "So do I."
