PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A night of celebration turned into chaos in Portsmouth, as police say four people were injured at a graduation party because of a shooting.
Investigators did not release the names or ages of the victims but said that two of the victims are minors. Detectives said it happened in the 400 block of Viking Street near the Cavalier Manor Recreation Center at around 11:44 p.m.
Neighbors told 13News Now they heard the party all night long, and at first assumed it was fireworks.
"It sounded like fireworks, I thought it was fireworks, it wasn't until I saw everyone leaving that I knew it was a shooting," said one neighbor.
By Sunday morning, teenagers and adults alike returned to the scene of the shooting to retrieve items lost in the chaos.
