In what Today in Ohio described as Donald Trump’s immigration recklessness, Lorain County recently found itself fighting to be removed from the “sanctuary jurisdiction” blacklist —despite clear evidence that the county fully cooperates with federal immigration authorities.

As detailed in the podcast, the designation came as a shock to county officials.

“Lorain county, right here, they got wrongly slapped with the label of a sanctuary jurisdiction by Trump’s government,” explained Leila Atassi. “That’s the list that created under this executive order to publicly shame cities and counties that supposedly refused to cooperate with immigration enforcement. But here’s the thing. Lorain county does cooperate.”
