LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — The NAACP is calling for the Lynchburg City School Board to reverse its decision to ban Danny McCain, a long-time community speaker, from making public comments at board meetings.

McCain, who has been addressing the board for nearly 30 years, was barred after exceeding his allotted five-minute speaking time during a recent meeting.

During the meeting, McCain was asked to respect the board's rules. "We haven't heard anything at all on what you're doing to close these gaps. These are some very important issues," board member Dr. Martin Day said.
