Turkey has seen a dramatic drop in hotel bookings in some of its most popular holiday destinations, with experts blaming rising costs and recent earthquakes.

Recent earthquakes in the Aegean Sea have affected some of the most popular coastal hotspots in Turkey including Izmir, Mugla, and Aydin, but industry bosses say this isn't the biggest factor deterring tourists.

Concerns have been raised about massive price hikes across Turkey's top resorts, with a holiday package for a family of four surging from £1,880 to £2,069 last year up to £3,204 in 2025, depending on the choice of accommodation and transport - an increase of between 30 and 100 per cent.
