The annual East Texas Annual & Perennial Plant Trial will be held on Thursday, June 26 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research & Extension Center at Overton.

he trials provide homeowners, Master Gardeners, greenhouse and nursery growers and professional landscapers with the opportunity to observe hundreds of varieties of new annual and perennial plants grown in their locale.

The trials were started in 1994 by Dr. Brent Pemberton who continued them until his retirement in 2022. Dr. Andrew King, new assistant professor of ornamental horticulture is overseeing this year’s trials which include vinca, petunia, mandevilla, pentas, lantana, salvia and many more. New varieties of tomato, pepper and eggplant will also be highlighted this year.
