Starting off our Sunday with Air Quality Alerts as the smoke from the Canadian wildfires has pushed into central New York. These alerts run through midnight tonight before improving air quality is expect for Monday.
The thickest smoke is forecast to linger along and north of the Thruway with air quality index readings currently sitting in the unhealthy for sensitive groups category. Meaning people who are sensitive to the effects of pollutants like young children or those with preexisting medical conditions should limit their time outside today.
Notice below, we expect drastically better air quality by Monday morning.
Besides the smoke/haze today, filtered sunshine with temperatures reaching 80 degrees in Syracuse. Any developing rain showers should hold off to near sunset tonight.
