A Midland backpacker could be jailed for up to 20 years after she was charged over a fatal e-scooter crash in Australia.

Psychology graduate Alicia Kemp, aged 24 and Redditch , is accused of death by dangerous driving while under the influence in connection with the death of a man in Perth on Saturday, May 31.

She was alleged to have been riding a scooter that hit 51-year-old Thanh Phan on a footpath. He died of a head injury. Kemp was said to have been carrying a passenger, aged 26. who suffered a broken nose and fractured skull.

Kemp's parents were flying to Australia, The Mirror reported , with a neighbour saying they had left on Tuesday.
