Pension claimants can boost their payments by up to £328 by submitting a claim to the HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ).
Pensioners who help look after their grandchildren while their parents are working may not realise they can claim National Insurance credits.
Those who look after a child aged under 12 can apply to claim Specified Adult Childcare Credits, which essentially transfers the credits to them instead, as long as the parent or main carer does not need the credits themselves.

The credits help stop gaps in a person's National Insurance record and claimants can receive Class 3 National Insurance credit for each week or part week they provided care for the child, boosting the amount they get.
"Th
