A kitchen gadget sold on Amazon has been banned and will be destroyed over a ‘serious’ risk of fire and explosion.

The UK government has issued a warning that the machine used to dehydrate foods should not be used, and any imports will be intercepted.

In a recall notice, the Office for Product Safety and Standards said: ‘The product presents a serious risk of fire as the fuse has insufficient granular filler to operate safely under fault conditions.

‘The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.’

Their product safety notice relates to the Moongiantgo Food Dehydrator, which can be used to make dried fruit snacks, among other things. It says that the black and silver food dehydrator with power supply plug does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Reg
