The Port Dover Lions are in full planning mode for this year’s Canada Day celebration.

The festivities, organized by the Lions Club since 1954, traditionally draw a huge crowd to the lakeside town.

Day-long activities include:

9 a.m. — The Kinsmen Soap Box Derby on Main Street in front of The Arbor.

11 a.m. — Parade of Boats in the harbour.

11:15 a.m. Dog Contest at Powell Park.

2 p.m. — Callithumpian Parade, Main Street-St. George Street.

7 p.m. — Evening concert featuring Albatross.

10 p.m. — Fireworks at Lions Silver Lake Park, 320 St. Patrick St.

No pre-registration for the parade is required; marshalling and setup starts at noon around St. George St. and Dover Ave. The parade begins at 2 p.m. sharp.
