Blue Badge owners have been issued a Highway Code warning for a common parking error which they must "never" make. Almost five per cent of the population has a Blue Badge, and road users and drivers risk a £1,000 fine.
2.84 million Blue Badges are held across England, as of March 31, 2024, with ALL holders at risk. Guidance states that the Blue Badge is "not a licence to park anywhere", and reminds road users of pl laces where drivers cannot park with a Blue Badge.
It includes spaces where a ban on loading or unloading is in force, which will be indicated by kerb markings, parking places reserved for specific uses, like residents' bays or loading bays and pedestrian crossings (zebra, pelican, toucan and puffin crossings), including areas marked by zig-zag lines).
